# CleanImages

> CleanImages is a free, in-browser suite for image metadata: inspect what a photo is carrying, strip it, or embed AI-training opt-out signals. It handles GPS location, camera and device info, timestamps, EXIF/IPTC/XMP, AI-generation tags, C2PA content credentials, and embedded thumbnails. All processing happens entirely in your browser; images are never uploaded to any server. No account is required (sign-in is optional). It works offline, including after a reload, once you have visited once. A product of ToolsNet.Work (Ontario, Canada).

## Key facts

- 100% in-browser: images are processed on your own device and are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on a server.
- Free to use. No account required; sign-in is optional. Checking a photo's metadata is unmetered.
- Removes: GPS/location data, camera & device details (EXIF), timestamps, IPTC and XMP metadata, AI-generation tags (Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, DALL·E, Firefly), C2PA / Content Credentials, and hidden embedded thumbnails.
- Selective removal: a "remove location only" mode erases GPS coordinates while preserving copyright, camera settings, and captions.
- Writes protective metadata: the IPTC/PLUS Data Mining AI-training opt-out plus copyright and usage terms.
- Resizing: images can be scaled by percentage or fitted to a bounding box, with live size-savings shown before you commit.
- Batch processing: up to 100 images at once, downloaded together as a single zip.
- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, and WebP with lossless byte-level editing; GIF falls back to a canvas re-encode. HEIC and camera RAW are not supported yet.
- Installable as a PWA and works offline — after one visit, you can disconnect your network, reload, and the tools still function.
- Available in English and Español.
- Honesty note: removing metadata does NOT make an image anonymous or undetectable as AI-generated; modern detectors analyze pixels, which CleanImages does not alter to evade detection. Pixel watermarks such as Google's SynthID survive metadata removal entirely. It is a privacy tool, not an evasion tool.
- Honesty note: the AI-training opt-out signals are voluntary. Compliant crawlers respect them; scrapers that ignore them are unaffected.
